Professional Development Manager


BASIS Curriculum Schools (curriculum for BASIS private schools) seeks a passionate professional to serve the teachers and leaders in our network by building, implementing, assessing and improving training programs of teacher mentoring and professional development. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum, the Professional Development Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining our community of Subject Advisors (SADs) across our international network of schools. Therefore, the ideal candidate will possess both experience with the BASIS academic model and ideas for efficient electronic communication and meetings.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Recruit for, train, and manage the Subject Advisor (teacher mentor) program, including: trainings, handbooks, virtual "retreats," assessments, systems and a repository of monthly communications from Subject Advisors to their advisees
  • Develops, coordinates and oversees network-wide professional learning programs in alignment with BASIS Curriculum goals and initiatives, as well as with individual campus priorities
  • Implements professional learning opportunities through multiple delivery models including formal structured workshops and digital platforms
  • Maintains an expert working knowledge of BeLA (BCS proprietary curriculum and assessment system)
  • Establishes strong working relationships with school and network staff
  • Keeps abreast of innovative professional development strategies and techniques
  • Analyzes and uses data to identify professional development needs and to evaluate, improve program effectiveness



  • Knowledge of staff development as it applies to both teaching and learning, and leading professional learning communities
  • Knowledge of current trends in curriculum, teaching methods and strategies; adult learning theory and professional development; planning and project management; and collaboration, coordination, and facilitation of work groups in person, video, or webinar
  • Superior communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, time-sensitive work environment; a self-starting mentality
  • Flexibility to attend occasional meetings, activities and events outside normal working hours to account for time zone differences, and/or to travel periodically
  • Enthusiasm for facilitating others’ success in the classroom and for working towards the shared goals of BASIS Curriculum Schools

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in staff/leadership development, instructional design, or other professional development
  • Experience with software used for virtual meetings/events, such as SharePoint, Skype, Camtasia, Adobe Connect, Zoom, Blue Jeans, etc.; a passion for instructional technology
  • Experience as a teacher/admin in a BASIS Curriculum School
