As the Data Manager, you will work collaboratively with individuals from departments across the organization to understand their data needs and help resolve the challenges they face in accessing data to make informed decisions. You will be responsible for compiling data from a variety of internal and external sources. Based on the deep knowledge you develop working cross-collaboratively with colleagues, you will develop, maintain, and update dashboards that provide valuable insights to organization and school leaders throughout the BASIS.ed network.

This role will work with members of the Data and Analytics team, focusing on key data areas including:

  • Student recruitment, enrollment, and retention;
  • Events and marketing campaigns;
  • Student, parent, and staff surveys;
  • Fundraising; and
  • Special projects as assigned.

The Data Manager can be located at the BASIS Educational Group Office in either Scottsdale, AZ or Tucson, AZ.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage ETL processes;
  • Develop a deep understanding of the data in relevant key data areas (above);
  • Architect and design new SQL databases and tables;
  • Develop and monitor data entry procedures;
  • Create and update existing data visualizations utilizing Tableau to inform network decision-making;
  • Collaborate with individuals from departments across the organization to build stakeholder surveys utilizing survey design software;
  • Assist in data checking and quality control;
  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to data requests received through the Helpdesk or communication system process;
  • Provide consultation and guidance on business processes within the BASIS network as they relate to the data needs of the organization;
  • Provide reports and summary statistics as requested;
  • Provide ongoing training for end users; and
  • Miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Key Competencies

  • Proficiency using Microsoft 365;
  • An understanding of data flows, APIs, and ETL processes;
  • Proficiency working with Business Intelligence tools (experience with Tableau preferred);
  • An understanding of analytical and statistical methods preferred;
  • Working knowledge of query language (preferably Microsoft SQL);
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Advanced problem solving skills;
  • Interest in learning and mastering new systems;
  • Strong commitment to customer service;
  • High degree of flexibility, self-motivation and drive;
  • Ability to work in a high-functioning, fast-paced team environment supporting departments in a dispersed business environment;
  • Thrives working both collaboratively and independently; and
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and a high level of initiative.
